Many farms now offer visitors a chance to get lost in their mazes cut out of their existing cornfields.  A great time of the year to cash in on this environmentally friendly approach to making money is October.  

As a matter of fact most corn mazes are open to visitors only during October because of the Halloween crazy that permeates all activities during that month.  For city dwellers and suburbanites, the month of October normally represents a long prelude to the spookiest night of the year.  However, they may not realize that October is also harvest time, which makes it a great time of year for cornfield mazes.

Most corn maze operators offer other activities, like hay rides, bounce houses, farming demonstrations, apple picking, pumpkin patches, mini mazes or petting zoos.

The designs for the mazes range from the very basic to the incredible elaborate.  The shape that at maze can take is only limited to the imagination and the level of effort of the farmer in charge of the project.  Past maze themes include Napoleon Dynamite, Gerald Ford and John Wayne.
