According to the Census Bureau, 13 percent of the US population will be over the age of 65 by 2010. By 2030, the figure will jump to 19.6 percent.  In other words, services that are geared to help the elderly are certain to be in great demand for the foreseeable future.

Since many older people want to remain in their own homes as long possible, entrepreneurs are rushing in to provide various types of Non-Medical Senior Care that help them age in place.  The type of care provided by such companies could be categorized as pre-assisted living services.

The biggest obstacles to breaking into non-medical home care are often the seniors themselves, who are reluctant to acknowledge their needs.

According to Andrea Cohen, co-founder and CEO of HouseWorks, many senior simply do not want help.  Nevertheless the need for this type of service is made clear by the the company's revenues, which are projected to reach $11.9 million.
