Overview:

Out of the thought that a more comfortable chair was needed, Shawn Nelson began a journey that would make him a millionaire. 

At age 18, the young entrepreneur made a 7-foot wide seat from 14 yards of vinyl filled with anything soft he could find. The first chair was so comfortable that neighbors started placing orders for similar seats. 

At that point LoveSac (www.lovesac.com), Nelson's company, was born. After enlisting his firned s as free labor, Shawn made LoveSacs in his parents' basement and sold them at trade shows and other events.

After a huge order proved too much for the young company and its owner, good fortune would appear in the form of an overzealous idea. Nelson decided that he needed to open a mall store fashioned to look ike an upscale chain.

The idea worked and now the company franchised more than half its 55 stores. Annual sales have also gone from mediocre, at best, to more than $30 million.
