Money Making Ideas, extra income opportunities and stories to awaken the entrepreneur in you

In order to create a viable business venture the popular advice is to “find a need and fill it”.  While the statement is full of truth, it is quite empty on the details.  There is no doubt that there are lots of needs to be filled and even more ways to fill them, but it can be daunting for someone to know where to start looking.

There are many proven ways to make money.  In the following pages, you’ll find a list of ideas and general ways to turn those ideas into moneymaking ventures.  Of course, there are lots of details to work out, but you can at least get a sense direction for your business interests.

To really get your business ideas going, it is important to only use the information as an overall guideline.  Once you find an idea that may fit your current circumstances, you should expand on the possibilities.  There is no reason to simply replicate what an example describes, when you can apply the concept to a whole new market, product or service.

You should always look past the particulars provided and the words used.  Above all, think BIG.

If you find yourself wondering, “why would I want to sell (Fill in the blank)”, “I don’t know anything about (Fill in the blank)”, “(Fill in the blank) can’t be done here”, you are putting too much emphasis on the details of what is written.  DON’T.  Remember to only use the general concept.

You should customize the money making method by replacing almost all the details with your own information.  For example, the first business idea is to “Fix up used things and sell them”.  At first pass you may think that you have to buy cars or houses, repair them and sell them for profit.  However, the same principle applies if you buy items at garage sales, clean them and sell them on eBay, to give just one example.

Provide Free Content And Charge Companies To Advertise

On the surface giving away something may not seem like a good business idea, but when coupled with other sources of revenue it can make a lot of financial sense.  Entrepreneurs can provide useful content to the public at no charge.  Examples could include dictionary definitions, blog and website posts, document or website templates, newsletters, etc.  The point is to have something worthy of sharing, so that people become interested in whatever is provided.

As people become interested in the free content, they will tell others with similar interests.  In time, you may have a large number of individuals who will actually look forward to your contributions, or may continually use what you have already created.

Once you have a good following, you can charge a fee to advertisers for the ability to access your audience.  Especially if your content is very focused on a specific demographic, the opportunities to cash in on your efforts may be plenty.  Advertisers are normally not shy about spending top dollar to reach prospective customers who are well in tune with their offers.

Examples:

Report celebrity gossip and insult or compliment individual starts.

Sell Things That Are Easy To Acquire For You, But Hard To Get For Others

Find items that are plentiful where you live, but scarce elsewhere.  Things that are very common tend to be cheap, and possibly a nuisance depending on where you live.  Examples of commonplace things may be tires, dirt, grass clippings, used books, used cell phones, etc.  The list is nearly endless, but depends on your specific location.

After you have identified a cheap and plentiful source of material, the next step is to find a place in the world where there may be a shortage of it.  Think outside the box, and don’t focus on items that may be used as raw materials only.  There are many items that may be valuable in their final form.  You can make money by 1) Charging to take the “garbage” away from one place, and 2) charging to provide the scarce resource to the new destination.

Examples:

Tumbleweed sales over the internet

Sell used boxes
